What do You truly Need?
Most people don't even know the answer to this question, but what is it that you really need in order to shine your own light?
Marianne Williamson once worded most people’s fear beautifully. She said: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.”
Therefore, I like to ask you the same question again: “What is it you really need in order to shine your own light?”
Be like the water
In our recent Coherence Hotspot gathering, we delved into the amazing science of water, inspired by Dr. Emoto's groundbreaking experiments that unveil water's extraordinary ability to retain memories and respond to the energy of our emotions. The visuals in the video vividly demonstrate the rejuvenation of polluted water through the sincere prayer of a Buddhist monk, and the Desana tribe's intentional charging of water in the Amazon for healing purposes.
Now, let's extend this intriguing analogy to our human experience. Just as we are comprised of 50-70% water on a molecular level, why do we often find ourselves pondering the origins of our metaphorical pollution? Why the relentless pursuit of who polluted us and why? Is it possible that we've been guided by a model of suffering, perpetuated by the self-help industry, framing personal growth within the context of hardship?
Consider this: What if we adopted the fluidity of water in our approach to cleansing and healing? I work with some of the most traumatized individuals in our communities, and through blessing the metaphorical water within, I've witnessed a remarkable transformation at an emotional and spiritual level. The process involves an intentional and genuine shift in emotional state, allowing ourselves to deeply feel, and continuously repeating this practice.
In the initial stages, it's not uncommon to feel that it is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Yet, as we navigate this transformative journey, we come to recognize this fear as a programmed response rather than a true reflection of who we are. Questions often arise, echoing sentiments like, "Where have you been?" or "Why weren't we taught this earlier?" The realization dawns that the beautiful butterfly before us is none other than ourselves, waiting to be touched and acknowledged.
Reflecting on the words I once shared with a woman struggling with cancer, the essence of our shared journey becomes clear. Her awareness of the finite nature of her time made her feel extremely anxious. In a little note, I wrote the following to her:
“Life seems so ungraspable sometimes
and you don’t know how to deal with your own emotions.
You’re thinking and thinking but no solution presents itself.
And then suddenly, from a wonderful Universe,
an angel descends, especially for you.
She grasps your hand and understands what you’re going through.
Initially you think it’s a coincidence (but soon you'll know better than that).
This angel doesn’t know good or bad or judges in any way.
It’s an angel of pure love and you have a hard time believing it,
because she’s there for you and she's so beautiful.
When you manage to fully surrender and feel the warm love flow through your heart,
you’ll react in a natural way – you want to keep this feeling and never let her go.
Suddenly you realize that you are feeling and have stopped thinking –
your heart is pounding like crazy now because something essential has just happened…
You've just come to understand that this beautiful angel, is YOU! “
Concluding
St Francis of Assisi once said, “What you are looking for is already where you are looking from.” That’s a very beautiful observation. Because of our conditioning we can get stuck in a very traditional and intellectual mode of perceiving.
It does take some form of grace when we connect with a deeper wisdom within us. We are already all we are hoping and searching to find, so there’s no need to look beyond your self. May in inspire you to get one of my heart coherence meditations (Vol. 2), as these will make you discover the words of St. Francis at the deepest level.
Be you!
Dirk
Dirk - your question this week hit me square between the eyes. 🤪 (That’s a good thing - LOL!)
I had a very bad fall on my knees crossing the street and could not walk for 4 days. I was sooo very grateful for the 4 people who came to my rescue - 2 men lifted me & a woman drove me home.
Those days of solitude brought many wonderful insights as I did the necessary shadow work. I am so blessed to recognize ‘past’ patterns of doing vs achieving (spinning multiple plates in the air) & my repeating behaviours of needing to find solutions (taking responsibility for everything & everyone).
So - what do I need?
1.) to give myself permission to see all that I have accomplished in 73 years. (It was easy to acknowledge everyone else’s ‘gold’ but not my own - so as not to draw attention to myself.)
2.) to forgive myself for having had several chances to relieve myself of emotional burdens but I chose to retain them (with a domino effect of chipping away at myself & staying trapped in cycles).
3.) to allow myself to stay in the moment & really taste the joy of experience, while being willing to step into the unknown fear of ‘feeling’ too deeply.
In summary:
1.) GRATITUDE (grace and attitude)
2.) AUTHENTICITY
3.) CURIOSITY TO LEARN

I loved this Dirk. Thank you for continuing to inspire us all .
